Cooper's DECA chapter recently competed in its District competition against schools like Minnetonka and Edina.
District competition consisted of a role-play event in the morning, during which students are given a case study and have 15-30 minutes to prepare and present to the judges. In the afternoon, students choose between presenting a project they have already written a paper about, giving a sales demonstration or having a mock job interview.
Students can choose from a variety of industry areas to compete in, including finance, marketing, hospitality and tourism, sports and entertainment, retail buying and communications.
“The students took home a lot of trophies and made Cooper proud!” said DECA advisor Brianna Hershey.
Hershey will be taking about 20 students to the State Conference in March.
