All-District Choir (ADC) is comprised of the top singers in grade 5 from all ten of the district's elementary schools. ADC is currently under the direction of Beth Schultz, and assisted by Scott Weeklund.
The All-District Choir rehearses on Thursday mornings at Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School (RSIS), then take a bus from RSIS to their respective elementary schools when rehearsal is over. ADC performs throughout the year at various venues and concerts including the New Hope Mayors breakfast, the annual district Fall Music Festival, PRISM Concert - "A Concert for Sharing," Winnetka Learning Center, Twin Cities Youth Chorale Choral Festival and often with other ensembles from the district.
The All-District Choir would not be possible without the help of dedicated parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering at a concert or tour, contact Beth Schultz at 763-504-4451, or by email at Beth_Schultz@Rdale.org.
Why offer special music groups?
After learning eighth, quarter, half and whole notes, second- and third-graders scored 100% higher than their peers who were taught fractions using traditional methods. (Neurological Research, 1999)
SAT scores for students who studied the arts more than four years were 59 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on the math portion than students with no coursework or experience in the arts. (The College Board, Profile of SAT and Achievement Test Takers, 1995. Similar results appear in 2000, 2001 and 2002 reports.)
