Age-Related Services

Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) 
This program is designed to meet the needs of children with developmental disabilities and their families. The program is for children ages birth to kindegarten. Services for children under age two are generally provided in the home or childcare center. Services for children age three up to kindegarten are provided in the district's early childhood center, community preschools or childcare centers.

Special Education Services - Kindergarten through Grade 12
Special education services are available for students in grades K-12 based on needs identifed in their individual education plan (IEP). Most students receive their services in their neighborhood school and when possible in their regular class setting. Service models include small group instruction, instruction in general education classroom and off-site instruction at Intermediate District 287.  

Transition Services - Post Grade 12 - Age 21
The Robbinsdale Transition Center (RTC) is a program for young adults with disabilities.  Students attending RTC are provided assistance and support focusing on community based employment and independent living skills. Using the IEP team process, the Robbinsdale Transition Center services help students achieve their goals by providing specialized instruction, training and support based on individual needs in the following five transition areas: 

  • Jobs & Training
  • Recreation & Leisure
  • Community Participation
  • Home Living
  • Post-Secondary Training
