Students from FAIR School Crystal and Northport Elementary School have the honor of performing at the NFL's first major event to kick off Super Bowl LII.

These students (15 fourth- and fifth-graders from Northport and 15 seventh- and eighth-graders from FAIR) will perform two songs at the Super Sharing, Super Kids event on Jan. 18 at Braemar Field in Edina. NFL Super Kids, Super Sharing is an all-day event where kids have the opportunity to help underprivileged local youth and get involved with Super Bowl events. This is the 18th consecutive year the NFL has started Super Bowl festivities with the Super Kids, Super Sharing event. The FAIR and Northport students will perform the song "Powerful" from the TV show "Empire," along with a medley of "Love Train/Put A Little Love in Your Heart." They are led by FAIR School Crystal Music Teacher Kim Keaton and Northport Elementary School Music Teacher Kristin Hiykel.

Zoraba Ross, principal at FAIR School Crystal, said the event was "a great opportunity and honor" to go to the event, adding that students have prepared for the past month and a half for the event.

"This will be an experience these students will never forget, and sometimes opportunities like this are what help people become greater later on," Ross said. "This is an opportunity most kids don't get."
