RSIS K-3 Chess Team wins national championship

Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School's K-3 Chess Team recently won a national championship at the National Elementary Chess Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee! More than 2,000 students participated in the event. The K-3 team,also won the state title for the second year in a row.

"The kids did a wonderful job," said team adviser Dana Litman. "These are great kids who put a lot of time and effort in even outside of Chess Club."

More than 125 students at the school participate in the club.

Results:
Grace Emerson played in k-3 unrated finish 1st with 6.5 out of 7 points

Rose Freiberg 2nd place k-3 unrated finished 2nd with 6 our of 7

Mateo Cancino 3rd place finished with 5.5 out of 7

Xavier Emerson finished with 4 out of 7 points and finished tied for tied for 15th

Griffin Schmidt won the tied for 25th trophy and got 5 of 7 points in the k-3 under 700 rating section 

Nora Litman got 4 out of 7 and finished tied for 78th out of 299 kids also in the k-3 under 700 section

Alex Browne finished 5-2 in the k-5 under 1200 section and won a tied for 25th trophy. There were 177 kids in his section. 

Kinder Grant Schmidt finished with two ties in the kinder-1st grade section
