Robbinsdale Middle School (RMS) Multicultural Club is planning a three-day, school-wide “Strength in Girls” Women’s Day luncheon event March 19-21, 2019, to honor the women in student’s lives and the community.

“Students will learn about positive women in our community and celebrate the positive women in our lives as well as celebrate Strength In Girls,” said Karlett Williams, 6th grade teacher and RMS Multicultural Club Advisor.

Each grade level will have their own day to celebrate, and students are invited to attend the luncheon event with an important woman in their lives. Students will also give their guest a letter, explaining how significant she is in their life, as well as a gift from the Multicultural Club. Students and guests are encouraged to wear yellow. “This is a great way to show how RMS is a positive, strong community,” said Nathan Hernandez Flores, a 6th grader at RMS.

Each day of the event features a prominent community guest speaker, who will share inspiring and empowering messages with students.

  • Justice Anne McKeig, Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice will speak to 8th graders on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 12:20-12:55 p.m.

  • Author and songwriter May Marchelle, and Carolina Calvillo, Robbinsdale Area Schools Equity Specialist, will speak to 7th graders on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 12:05-12:33 p.m.

  • Stephanie Revering, City of Crystal Police Chief, will speak to 6th graders on Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 1:30-2:00 p.m.
