281 Youth Council

The Robbinsdale Area Schools Youth Council (281YC) brings student leaders together to drive change at the district level. This council empowers students to develop leadership skills, elevate youth voice, and address issues that directly impact students throughout Robbinsdale Area Schools. Members work alongside district leaders to design and support youth-centered systems change while serving as advocates and leaders in their school communities.
 

Superintendent Student Advisory Council

The Superintendent Student Advisory Council provides students with a direct opportunity to advise the Superintendent and district leadership on issues affecting learning, school climate, and the overall student experience. Council members represent student voices from across the district, share feedback, discuss district initiatives, and offer ideas to improve schools. This group empowers students to engage in meaningful dialogue with decision-makers and gain insight into district-level leadership.
 

Student Safety Squad

The Student Safety Squad is a group of students who help make school a safe, welcoming, and supportive place. Building on ideas from the district’s Student Safety Summit, students share their perspectives on safety, well-being, and belonging. Members help start conversations, give feedback to adults, and support actions that make students feel heard, included, and supported at school.
 

Student Council

Student Council provides students with a formal way to share their voices and help improve school culture. Members typically focus on spirit days, assemblies, fundraising, and identifying areas of the school experience they want to improve. Students give input on activities, climate, and school-wide decisions, and many recommendations are partially or fully implemented by staff.

Student Leadership Team at Cooper High School

The Student Leadership Team at Cooper High School meets regularly with the Head Principal to discuss school culture, programming, and student experience. Students bring forward concerns, ideas, and recommendations, and help put plans into action to make Cooper a welcoming and inclusive place for all students.

Full Service Community Schools: Site Leadership Team

The Site Leadership Team is a group of students, staff, families, and community partners who work together to make the school a better place for everyone. Students on the team share their ideas about what’s working, what could improve, and what students need to feel supported at school. By joining the Site Leadership Team, students help shape school programs, events, and supports, and learn how their voice can make a real difference in their school and community.

NWSC Student Leaders

The Northwest Suburban Conference provides an opportunity for all 13 schools to send ten representatives, twice a year, to attend a leadership conference that focuses on skills for student leaders that will assist with helping peers and their program deal with adversity. The two seminars take a deep dive into how to assess a situation, gauge the room, and collaborate with others.  These seminars also serve as a reminder of how to support classmates and meet them where they are in the moment.

Student Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC)

The Student MAC is a group where students share their voices about culture, identity, and belonging. Students work with school leaders and members of the New Hope Police Department to build understanding, trust, and positive relationships. MAC members help make school a more welcoming place by sharing ideas, having honest conversations, and representing diverse student perspectives.
 

Kindness Team at Sonnesyn Elementary

The Kindness Team at Sonnesyn Elementary works alongside the school’s Words Matter initiative to promote a positive school climate. Students lead and support assemblies, create bulletin boards, organize food drives, and model inclusive, respectful behavior throughout the school community.

Robbinsdale Area Redesign Family Services Collaborative

The Youth Intern position for the Robbinsdale Area Redesign Family Service Collaborative provides students with a unique opportunity to actively participate in shaping decisions that impact schools, students, and the broader community. Youth in this role serve as a key voice on the collaborative, offering perspectives, insights, and experiences to ensure that student needs are represented in discussions and decision-making processes.

Native Youth Leadership Council

This group has formed to represent and amplify the voices of Native American youth, to organize collective action to bring about positive change and develop future tribal leaders, address youth related challenges, and to coordinate school and community service projects. Elected youth leaders will also serve as student representatives on the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee.
