1st Place for AHS Marching Band at Anoka Parade

Senior Mary Isaak leads the AHS band during the 2018 Anoka Halloween ParadeThe Robbinsdale Armstrong High School Marching Band received the 1st place trophy at the Anoka Halloween Grande Day Parade on Saturday, October 27, 2018, in the class AA division. The Armstrong Marching Band has won 1st place at the Anoka Halloween Parade for 15 of the past 17 years, many times winning extra trophies for drum line, color guard, best winds and drum majors.

This year, the band also received the trophy for "Outstanding Winds" for the best musical sound produced by any of the bands in the competition. In addition, the drum majors leading the band -- seniors Sam Theisen, Kyra Rose and Mary Isaak -- won the trophy for Best Drum Majors in this year;s parade.

"The Armstrong directors are very proud of the marching band for winning 1st place at the Anoka Halloween Parade," said Armstrong Band Director Todd Burkholder. "We are particularly happy the judges awarded our band for the best musical sound as we work very hard with our students to play with great confidence, tone and dynamics," he said.
