Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools families and staff,

You may have already received the following information from your student's principal or school nurse. However, we wanted to make sure each family is aware of the most recent updates regarding coronavirus (COVID-19).

We are in the middle of influenza season, while also tracking the emerging and quickly spreading coronavirus. At Robbinsdale Area Schools, we follow guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health. Current information about coronavirus suggests a low immediate health risk for the general public. At this time, similar prevention methods for colds and influenza are also recommended for coronavirus.

The Minnesota Department of Health recommends:
1. Stay home when you are sick;
2. Cover your cough and use a tissue to blow your nose;
3. Practice good hand washing - use soap and water, and wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds

We encourage these practices at school - for our students and staff - and invite you to do the same with students at home. If you have questions, contact your school's health office or your medical provider.

More information about coronavirus is available on the Minnesota Department of Health website and Centers for Disease Control website.

Sincerely,
Carlton D. Jenkins, Ph.D.
Superintendent
Robbinsdale Area Schools
