Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools Families and Staff,

As always, the health and safety of our students, families, staff and community are our top priorities. The rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us to think of new ways to meet the educational needs of all our students through an equitable distance learning model.

While our physical doors may be closed to students due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, we must continue to support each other through small acts of kindness and modeling human decency. As such, our Robbinsdale Area Schools community will continue to lift each other up because “We are Robbinsdale!”

Stay-At-Home Order
This afternoon, Governor Tim Walz issued Executive Order 20-20 for all Minnesotans to shelter-in-place/stay safe at home, effective Friday, March 27 at 11:59 p.m. to Friday, April 10, in response to slowing the spread of COVID-19. Our community members are being asked to stay in their homes, leaving only for food, medicine and essential services. We hope you are finding creative ways to remain connected with family and friends in this unprecedented time.

Meal Distribution and Child Care Continues
We will continue to provide grab and go meals, and childcare for our emergency workers during distance learning. Also, we will continue to seek ways to support our families and staff during this time.

Distance Learning Period
As a part of an extension of Governor Tim Walz’s Executive Order 20-02, distance learning will begin Monday, March 30, 2020 and last through Monday, May 4, 2020. As such, we are anticipating posting our distance learning plan to the district website tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, 2020. Our schools will remain closed to students during this time. All in-person, school-sponsored activities, as well as co-curricular practices, which had been previously scheduled before the implementation of distance learning are suspended indefinitely.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership during this time.

Sincerely,

Carlton D. Jenkins, Ph.D.
Superintendent
