FAIR Crystal SAIL Students Gain Skills at Leadership Conference
Fourteen 7th and 8th grade students from FAIR-Crystal were selected to attend the Students in Action Leadership Conference on Saturday, October 27, at the University of Minnesota. Students in Action is a program sponsored by the Jefferson Award Foundation aimed at helping youth develop a passion for creating community change, and building the skills and confidence needed to do it well. During the conference, students learned core and leadership skills.

These 14 students also participate in FAIR-Crystal's Student Ahead In Life (SAIL) program, which was founded by the school's equity specialist, Chau Nguyen. "SAIL's goals are to provide students with hands-on and life-long learning experiences, preparing them to make positive decisions, build trusting relationships, and become community leaders," said Ms. Nguyen. "SAIL provides a solid foundation to help students believe in the possibilities and create powerful opportunities to impact each student's life."

The students will collaborate and participate in year-long community projects to make differences at the school and in the community.
