The First Lady visited Erika Marsh's third grade class at Neill Elementary; Kara Johnson's English Language Learners class at Forest Elementary; and Janet Rein's kindergarten class at Lakeview Elementary.

“It was an honor to have First Lady Walz visit our classrooms and share in our students’ love of reading,” said Carlton D. Jenkins, P.hD., Superintendent of Robbinsdale Area Schools. “Mrs. Walz was the keynote speaker at our District Opener (in August), and her words continue to inspire our staff,” he said.

First Lady Walz selected and read What Does it Mean to Be Kind?, a children’s book about showing kindness to others through small acts and in simple ways. Students asked First Lady Walz questions, learned about her family and pets, and posed for photos.
