Robbinsdale Area Schools will feature the skilled trades at two events this week. “We are excited to offer our students opportunities to experience and learn about the skilled trades,” said Dr. Carlton D. Jenkins, Superintendent of Robbinsdale Area Schools.

“Construct Tomorrow” - Tuesday, March 5, 2019, 8am - 2pm

Robbinsdale Cooper High School will host a metro-wide “Construct Tomorrow” expo on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, from 8:00am to 2:00pm in the Cooper Community Gym. More than 20 trade groups will be represented at the expo. Students will have the opportunity to learn about union apprenticeship training programs and careers in the skilled trades, and participate in hands-on activities. High school students from Robbinsdale Area Schools, Robbinsdale’s Adult Academic Program students, and students from across the metro, are registered to attend this event.

Parent and Student University - Saturday, March 9, 2019, 9am - 1:30pm

The district’s Spring Parent and University event will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 9am to 1:30pm at Robbinsdale Middle School. During this event, parents and students of Robbinsdale Area Schools can learn about careers in the skilled trades from union members and explore career pathways available from colleges and universities. A job fair and resource expo will offer attendees on-site interviews for available positions from local companies, and the opportunity to learn about other job opportunities. Workshops and break-out sessions will offer additional opportunities to hear directly from skilled trades-members, as well as mock interviews, resume writing tips and job search techniques.
