In classrooms across Robbinsdale Area Schools, more young students are learning to read on grade level, and the growth is happening early.

During the 2024-25 school year, every kindergarten through third grade classroom in the district implemented Bridge2Read, bringing evidence-based instruction, coaching, and tutoring to thousands of students. Early results show promising gains, particularly among students who entered the year behind in reading.

School Transition Events

Change can feel big, for students and families alike. But this spring, Robbinsdale Area Schools is opening its doors to help make those next steps feel smaller, more familiar, and filled with possibility.

Whether your student is moving up to a new grade level, like elementary to middle school, or transitioning to a new building due to a school or program closure, these moments matter. To help make that transition smoother, families are invited to attend upcoming school transition events designed to support students heading into new buildings for the 2026-27 school year.

AHS Silver Star

Armstrong High School isn’t just rethinking how students prepare for life after graduation—it’s rebuilding the path itself.

That work is now earning statewide recognition. The Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals has awarded AHS a Silver Star of Innovation for its Preparing Falcons Futures program, a three-year effort that has transformed the school’s media center into a hub of personalized support, mentorship, and postsecondary planning.

AHS Student Taste Test

The verdict came quickly.

“The honey sriracha chicken taco is amazing,” said Armstrong High School senior Abdi Bootaan after taking a bite. “That one needs to be on the menu.”

Around him, a group of students debated the merits of dill pickle grilled cheese, sampled Nepalese dumplings dipped in coconut curry sauce and compared notes on whether a retro pizza burger deserved a place in the school lunch lineup.

It wasn’t just lunchtime at Armstrong High School—it was a taste test.
