Robbinsdale debate teams qualify for 2025 national tournament

The Robbinsdale debate teams from Armstrong (AHS) and Cooper (CHS) high schools are celebrating an impressive achievement: both teams have qualified for the 2025 National Debate and Speech Tournament, set for June 15–20 in Des Moines, Iowa.

From CHS, juniors Lily Plahn and Tessa Lenoch will compete. This marks Lily’s third trip to the tournament and her first qualification in Congressional Debate. For Tessa, this is her first appearance at nationals.

Representing AHS, junior Alison Wandmacher will make her second consecutive appearance in Congressional Debate.

While Robbinsdale Cooper and Robbinsdale Armstrong maintain separate debate programs, the students will represent the district together as a group at nationals. This achievement reflects a strong tradition for both schools: CHS has now qualified for nationals 17 times in the past 23 years, and AHS celebrates its eighth consecutive trip.
