Armstrong supermileage team placed fifth at international competition
Students from Armstrong High School recently traveled to India and earned fifth-place in the world at the Shell Eco Marathon. The supermileage team was recognized as the number one high school, and the number one ethanol vehicle.
As a part of the competition, the top three Urban Concept teams from each of the three energy categories – Internal combustion engine, Hydrogen and Battery Electric – competed among the four fastest and most energy-efficient teams from each region to participate in the World Championship.
The Supermileage Club launched last year. Members take classes in aerospace engineering, metals, small gas engines, or transportation engineering and driving supreme mileage cars in various competitions. The club is geared towards those who are interested in super mileage and engineering.
