Armstrong alumna selected for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games

Lucinda Anderson, Armstrong High School (AHS) Class of 2019, will make her Olympic debut this February at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games in the sport of biathlon.

During her time on the Nordic team at AHS, Anderson competed at the state meet all four years, contributing to the team’s state championships in 2016 and 2019. Additionally, in her senior season, she finished second at the state competition, approximately one ski length back of the winning skier.

After graduating from AHS, Anderson continued her skiing success at the University of New Hampshire, serving as a two-time captain of the Nordic ski team and was named to the All-East First Team three times across her five years in Durham, earning the honor in the 2021, 2023, and 2024 seasons. Additionally, Anderson finished her collegiate career with nine podium appearances, including six first place finishes, and ranked third overall among skiers in the East in her graduate student season in 2024.

She made the switch to biathlon in 2024, making her International Biathlon Union (IBU) Cup debut in Nov. 2024, and earning her first World Cup start just a few weeks later. By Feb. 2025, she was named to her first-ever World Championship team, adding to the remarkable progression that now leads into her Olympic debut.

"I am so excited to have qualified for the Olympic team and looking forward to throwing down some good races in February," Anderson said at a Team USA biathlon press conference. "I would not be here without the love and support from my family, team and financial support from Team Birkie, my love of racing from my teammates and coaches at UNH, and the whole Minnesota ski community!"

Anderson and the rest of Team USA begin the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy on Feb. 4, with biathlon competition set to begin on Feb. 8.
