In October, Robbinsdale Middle School was honored to welcome U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar for an engaging session with our students. The visit was a unique opportunity for middle schoolers in our Individuals and Societies (I&S) classes to bring their classroom learning to life. Our I&S curriculum focuses on understanding local, state, and global issues, and this visit gave students a firsthand chance to interact with a national leader on topics that matter to them.
Students were selected by their social studies teachers based on their engagement and behavior in class, allowing those most invested in these discussions to represent their peers. While space limited the number of participants, we look forward to arranging more such experiences in the future, ensuring that all students have the chance to connect with influential leaders.
