Annette Davis, an Education Assistant at Cooper High School, has been named one of five finalists for Education Minnesota’s ‘2020-2021 ESP of the Year’ award. Davis has worked at Robbinsdale Area Schools for 12 years, the past seven years at Cooper.
“I have been blessed to work alongside some wonderful colleagues in our special education programs, including autism spectrum and emotional-behavioral disorders,” said David. “I try my best to build a solid relationship with all students and colleagues.
“I look forward to lifting up my colleagues and being the reason students are excited for class,” she continued. “My grandchildren and my student’s are who I advocate for the most.”
The selection committee will name the winner on Wednesday, Nov. 18 -- which is Educational Support Professional (ESP) Day during American Education Week. The winner receives a $1,200 honorarium and their choice of a Chromebook, iPad or other tablet, plus an expense-paid trip to the NEA Education Support Professional National Conference.
“We are so excited for Annette to be a finalist for this award, and recognized for her efforts and dedication to our students,” said Dr. Stephanie Burrage, interim Superintendent of Robbinsdale Area Schools.
Education Minnesota has been recognizing ESPs (Education Support Professionals) with this statewide award since 2007. ESPs include education assistants/paraprofessionals, secretarial/clerical, custodial, nutrition services, maintenance and trades, transportation, grounds keeping, technology services, health services and others.
