Cooper High School Weight Room Opens With Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Cooper High School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 23 where football coach Willie Howard unveiled the newly renovated student-athlete training facility and weight room to local media members.

The new facility was funded with nearly $200,000 in grant money provided by the Polaris Foundation, Thielen Foundation and other local donors. Check out the weight room transformation.

Previously, the student-athlete training area and weight room at the school had become unusable for the students. With support and donations, the facility has been completely renovated, from state-of-the-art equipment to new paint on the walls.

In addition to local media and a handful of Cooper students and staff, Robbinsdale Area School Board Chair David Boone, Interim Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Burrage and Cooper Principal Dr. Frank Herman were joined by Polaris President of Motorcycles and International Michael Dougherty, Thielen Foundation President and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen and NFL Hall of Famer and former Viking John Randle at the event.
