District hosts leadership workshop on 'Community-Engaged Leadership'
More than 40 education leaders from across the Twin Cities gathered at FAIR School Crystal on May 1 for Community-Engaged Leadership: A Community Conversation, a workshop co-hosted by Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale) and the Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD). The event featured Dr. Darrius Stanley, a University of Minnesota professor and nationally recognized scholar on educational leadership and equity. Dr. Stanley guided superintendents, school board members, and district and building leaders from across the metro area through an evening of research-based insights and practical strategies for partnering with communities to drive educational excellence.
“This event offered a powerful reminder that transformational leadership requires authentic collaboration with those we serve,” said Superintendent Dr. Teri Staloch. “Dr. Stanley challenged us to think critically and reflect deeply—and I’m proud that Rdale created a space for that important work.”
The session expanded on themes introduced in AMSD’s 2024 annual conference, where Dr. Stanley served as keynote speaker, and explored and emphasized shared responsibility, relational trust, and the role of community voice in school system change.
