FAIR Crystal debate team succeeds at first tournament
FAIR School Crystal’s Dragon Debate Team competed in their first tournament, hosted by the Minnesota Urban Debate League (MNUDL), to great success.
Fifteen students from the team took part in the Jan. 30 competition, which had more than 40 competitors, and seven FAIR Crystal students took home awards in the individual or team categories.
Individual Speaker Awards:
- First Place: Madeline Ceja Virgen
- Fifth Place: Jane Canfield
- Seventh Place: Ally Trei
Team Performances:

- Fourth Place: Taraji Dudley and Reese Vomhof
- Fifth Place: Jane Canfield, Madeline Ceja Virgen
MNUDL is a program of Augsburg University that provides resources and programming to support competitive academic debate in Twin Cities high schools and middle schools. The mission of MNUDL is to empower students through competitive academic debate to become engaged learners, critical thinkers, and active global citizens who are effective advocates for themselves and their communities.
