Hamilton actor visits Rdale middle school
Bryson Bruce, a cast member of the touring production of Hamilton, recently visited FAIR School Crystal to talk with students about art, and in particular, theater.
During the visit, he performed a song from Hamilton, answered questions, and participated in some scenes and songs from the show with students. Bruce is an understudy for the roles of Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, and Marquis de Lafayette.
When asked why guest artist presentations are important for students to be a part of, eighth grader Coy Drontle said: “It gives us a sense of what we can do after being here and after high school. It's cool to see that you can do what you love for a job.”
Sixth grader Crosby Johnson agreed. “We go to an art school! It is important for us to meet real professional artists,” he said.
When asked about the recent visit, seventh grader Greta Flansburg said, “It was really cool to see someone who is a very successful actor. I like being in the plays here and it was good to see a future for me.”
Laura Mahler, the theater teacher who arranged the visit, shared that the purpose of guest artist presentations is to inspire students to get involved in the industry and to have fun while learning.
