R Pathways continues partnership with Summit Academy

During the 2024-25 school year, Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale) and R Pathways partnered with Summit Academy OIC to offer an afterschool STEMLinx program for high school students.

The program, funded by a one year grant, had 83 students take part in the course this school year. STEMLinx provides aspiring students with an opportunity to pursue and build their knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. The course involved STEM career exploration, educational speakers, visiting colleges and businesses, and ended with students creating a capstone project.

With the success of this year’s program, Summit Academy has agreed to continue the partnership next year, increasing the number of students that can take the course. In addition, next year’s course will include specific workshops on resume writing and doing mock interviews.

“This has been an incredibly popular opportunity and we had so many students that did not get the chance to take this course,” said Dr. Frank Herman, Director of College and Career Pathways. “We are so very fortunate that Summit wants to work with us again for another year.”

Summit Academy, an accredited, nonprofit Career and Technical Education Institute, provided the intros, planned the course and paid for everything, aside from bussing for visits which was funded by a separate United Way grant.

R Pathways offer unique career and college pathways that prepare students for life beyond school by incorporating academic, creative, and technical skills into their curriculum. By taking these career-related courses and immersing themselves in work-based experiences, students can discover how their passions can translate into a successful career.
