Rdale student-athletes nominated for MSHSL Triple ‘A’ Award

Two student-athletes from Armstrong High School (AHS), and another two from Cooper High School (CHS), have been nominated for this year’s Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Triple ‘A’ Award.

AHS nominated seniors Natalie Gustafson and Anders Hassis for the award, and the CHS students who earned the school’s nominations are seniors Niko Her and Keziah Omoke.

Gustafson has been part of the swim and dive team for six years, proudly representing AHS at the state tournament three times, alongside her four years in band and three years of track. She is a committed scholar, taking AP courses during her high school years.

While at AHS, Hassis is a four year member of the orchestra, cross country team and nordic ski teams, and was a two-year captain of both teams. He challenges himself in the classroom, taking AP and PSEO courses and maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

At CHS, Her has been heavily involved in band since his freshman year, and captains the boy’s volleyball team. Her also takes PSEO courses through North Hennepin Technical Community College and is enrolled in a dual-credit course, Introduction to EMT & First Responder, through CHS and Hennepin Technical College.

Omoke has been dedicated to music through choir in her time at CHS, alongside playing volleyball at the high school level since eighth grade. She is an International Baccalaureate scholar in addition to taking PSEO courses and participating in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination).

The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award, commonly known as the Triple ‘A' Award, honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.

Two award finalists from each region will be invited to a recognition banquet in March, and League officials will announce the four statewide Triple ‘A’ Award winners at that time.
