School closed, classes to move to e-learning, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, due to extreme cold
Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools families, staff and community partners,
I hope this message finds you warm and safe during this frigid stretch of winter. After carefully monitoring the weather situation and consulting with the National Weather Service, we’ve decided to close all Robbinsdale Area Schools on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, due to extreme cold and dangerous wind chills in the morning. We will shift to e-learning.
Students in Early Learning through grade 12 will remain at home and use their school-issued devices for learning. Your child’s teacher(s) will be in touch soon with additional details. If your student does not have a school-issued device at home, they may access learning and communication through other digital devices.
Canceled district programming includes:
- All preschool programming, Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), and Early Intervention services
- School-age child care will be closed at most Adventure Club sites; Neill Elementary School and FAIR Pilgrim Lane will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and all currently enrolled Adventure Club children are welcome to attend
- Early Adventures programming (except for FAIR Pilgrim Lane)
- The Basement teen center
- Adult Academic Program classes
- All activities and practices are canceled; however, games and competitions are planned to be held as scheduled (coaches and activities directors will have more information about competitions)
The following will continue as scheduled:
- The School Board business meeting, work session and Listening Time
- Facility rentals and community gyms will remain open
We understand the challenges these closures can create for families, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday, Jan. 22, when school and activities will resume as usual. Thank you for your ongoing support of Robbinsdale Area Schools and for keeping our students at the heart of everything we do.
Be well,
Dr. Teri Staloch
Superintendent
Robbinsdale Area Schools
