Students Participate in ACT Preparation Virtually

Robbinsdale Area Schools students had the opportunity to participate in a summer program to help them prepare for the upcoming ACT tests. The free ACTNow! Boot Camp program was first offered during the 2017-2018 school year. Due to the pandemic this year’s second session was offered virtually rather than in person. The virtual option provided additional flexibility, allowing students to access the course, study materials and content at the time and pace that worked for them. 

Students will have the opportunity to use what they learned when ACT testing begins later this month. 

“We were excited to be able to offer students this program virtually,” said Tamurial Grace, Director of Achievement and Integration/College and Careers. “This program supports our commitment to ensure every student graduates career, articulated skilled trades and college ready.”

The program included orientation days, a pre-assessment, post-assessment and virtual self student components. Course sections, content, skills and practices were also emphasized. All participants were given access to online resources, live sessions with an instructor and support from a coordinator. Thirty-seven students participated in the program.

When providing program feedback on what they found beneficial, one student shared “being able to retain the knowledge of what and what not to do during the ACT.” Students, on average, raised their score by three points after participating in the program.
