National Student Voter Registration Day is Sept. 17; election day is Nov. 5

National student voter registration day is next Tuesday, Sept. 17 -- exactly seven weeks prior to Election Day. Both Armstrong and Cooper have representatives from the League of Women Voters coming to their buildings during lunches to encourage students to register to vote. Highview/Robbinsdale Virtual Academy students are participating in the Minnesota Secretary of State’s live virtual events.

This will be the first time Minnesota has held a live statewide virtual high school event. in fact they will do it twice on the morning of Sept. 17: at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. The event includes a step-by-step voter (pre)registration session for students ages 16 and up!

Every high school -- public and private, rural, suburban, and urban -- is invited to join this groundbreaking celebration of youth voices
and civic engagement.

In addition to national and state races, residents of the communities that make up Robbinsdale Area Schools will be voting on extending our current technology levy referendum for another 10 years (through 2034-35).

Funds through the levy will pay for technology: for learning and safer schools and to support staff. One of the most important aspects of the referendum is that the renewed levy will be at the same tax rate: 4.207 percent. It will provide about $7 million in funds annually starting in the next school year.
