The Basement: School-Age Care for Middle School Students

School-age care will be offered during the Distance Learning model this fall for students in grades 6-8 at Plymouth Middle School, Robbinsdale Middle School and Sandburg Middle School.

Parents/guardians who are Tier 1 employees may obtain free care during school day hours for children 12 or younger who attend a District 281 school. Transportation is available.

Fee-based care is available for non-Tier 1 families, and Tier 1 families who need before or after school care. Fee-based is drop off and pick up only; no transportation is provided. CCAP funds are accepted at Sandburg Middle School.

Basement Fees

• 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.: $29 non-Tier 1 / free for Tier 1 (12 and under)
• 3 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.: $13.25 Tier 1 only (12 and under)
• 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: $37 non-Tier 1

Tier 1 employees must provide a verification letter on company letterhead from their employer. The letter must include the employee's name, state they are a Tier 1 worker, be dated no earlier than August 2020, and be signed by appropriate supervisor or HR staff with their contact information. They employee letter must be emailed to Adventure_Club@rdale.org. Your contract can be processed after the letter is received.

Basement staff and district support staff will help facilitate your student's distance learning schedule while licensed teachers meet with students virtually and teach content. Basement staff and district support staff are not licensed teachers, but will manage the classroom, help answer student questions, facilitate natural breaks in the day and play activities when there are any extended breaks during the school day.

Detailed protocols for each site, information about what to bring, drop off and pick up procedures and daily schedule will be communicated by site supervisors prior to the first day of school.
