Vision 2030 Team continues work toward a transformative future

The Reimagine Rdale: Vision 2030 Team reconvened on Feb. 25 at Cooper High School for its second meeting, continuing its comprehensive study of Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale).

Building on the foundation established in the first session, the team engaged in a night of in-depth learning, discussion, and visioning. With a focus on enrollment trends, program effectiveness, and the district’s evolving needs, the meeting served as another important step in developing a long-term, sustainable roadmap for the district.

The evening began with Superintendent Dr. Teri Staloch welcoming the team and reinforcing the importance of their work. The group then reviewed insights from the January meeting, addressed key questions raised by members, and discussed how their work aligns with the immediate budget work of the district and School Board.

A significant portion of the session was dedicated to analyzing enrollment and demographic data. State Demographer Hazel Reinhardt provided an overview of shifting enrollment trends, particularly at the elementary and kindergarten levels. This study is critical to understanding how student population changes will shape future decision-making.

Later in the evening, the team explored the intersection between the budget reduction process and the district’s reimagining efforts. Dr. Staloch led a discussion on how financial realities must be balanced with transformational, potential-based leadership, ensuring that changes made today set the district up for long-term success.

Members also examined current Rdale programming, including magnet schools, AVID, BARR, restorative practices, and college-credit opportunities like PSEO, IB, AP, and College in the Schools. This review helped frame discussions about which programs are thriving and how resources can be used most effectively.

Key Messages from the Meeting

Following the meeting, the team identified key themes they wanted to share with the community:

  • Focusing on Our Students – While demographics are not something we can change, we can focus on ensuring that every student in our schools has the best possible educational experience.
  • Commitment to Programs – The intent of the Vision Team is to build on the strengths of the district, and the work ahead is about understanding which programs are successful and how to build on those strengths.
  • Clarifying the Vision – The team is working to refine and narrow the focus of what it means to truly reimagine public education in our district.
  • Understanding Enrollment – A deep study of enrollment trends—particularly at the elementary and kindergarten levels—will inform future decisions.
  • Elevating What Works – The group is prioritizing programs that have demonstrated success, ensuring that resources are directed where they have the greatest impact.
  • Transformational and Future-Focused – The work is about transformation, looking at potential rather than limitations, and shaping a system that meets the needs of students today and in the future.
  • Collaboration and Cohort Learning – The team values collaborative, group-oriented projects and learning models that foster deeper engagement and student success.

As the Reimagine Rdale: Vision 2030 process moves forward, the team remains committed to transparency, innovation, and community engagement. Their work will continue to inform future decisions about facilities, programming, and district priorities in alignment with Rdale’s mission to inspire and educate all learners.

The next meeting, set for March 25 at Armstrong High School, will explore the student experience in Rdale, as well as academics, safety and security, and sense of belonging.

About Reimagine Rdale: Vision 2030

The Reimagine Rdale: Vision 2030 initiative is built around three key components: the Vision 2030 Team, a community engagement process, and a districtwide survey. The Vision 2030 Team, made up of community members, students, staff, and district leaders, will collaborate to develop a forward-thinking roadmap for Rdale. This effort will align with the district’s strategic pillars—Academic Achievement, Student Engagement and Wellness, Collaboration and Partnership, and Staff Investment and Impact—ensuring that future decisions are rooted in the district’s mission to inspire and educate all learners.
