Niilante France, one of Robbinsdale Area Schools’ remarkable students, enjoys the work-based opportunities at the Robbinsdale Transition Center.
“He’s been coming here for two-and-a-half years, and the main focus of the program Niilante is in is community-based instruction,” said Special Education teacher Suann McCrary. “There are a lot of community outings where we are learning social skills and vocation skills, and he is a very hard worker. Whatever task we give him, he works very hard and catches on extremely fast. He probably could outpace most of us!”
Niilante’s favorite things to do at the transition center include working at the Education Service Center and Work-Based Learning. For fun, he likes to mall walk, go to SkyZone and the YMCA. Niilante will be graduating from Robbinsdale Transition Center this year, and is looking for a day program.
“I have friends here,” Niilante said. “We do fun things.”
